Kontext
A family-owned group in Jordan holds six operating companies — in cement, food, logistics, retail, hospitality and financial services — and a board that meets on a Sunday with the family at the table. Each company has its own management, its own market and its own name; several were acquired and kept the names they came with. The board reads six sets of papers in six dialects of business language and decides on capital, leadership and expansion across all of them.
Two things are missing. The board has no intelligence function of its own: what it knows about regulators, rivals and markets arrives through the operating companies, late and shaped by the company that sends it. And the group has no brand architecture: the family's name carries weight in the region, but nothing decides when an acquired business takes it, how a new venture is named, or what a bank sees when two group companies bid for the same tender.
The mandate joins the two. A board-cadence intelligence function across the six industries, with one source register, one method and one memo form, and a brand architecture in Arabic and English that lets each business be itself under a name the family owns — with the governance to keep both running after Altuon leaves.
Mandat
The engagement is bought as an Enterprise Retainer: continuous capacity across the market intelligence, brand and growth practices, planned quarterly around the board's calendar and drawn monthly.
- 01Build a decision calendar for the board and each operating company, and the intelligence questions each decision depends on.
- 02Establish a governed source register — public and licensed sources only, with legal review — and a provenance standard every memo follows.
- 03Deliver positions before each board and committee meeting in a memo form agreed with the chairman, in Arabic and English, with sources cited to the line.
- 04Decide the brand architecture: the master brand, the endorsed and independent businesses, and the rules for acquisitions, ventures and divestments.
- 05Build the identity as infrastructure — bilingual, bidirectional, tokenised and templated — and roll it out company by company through a governed release process.
- 06Leave the group with an intelligence function and a brand council its own people run.

- 01
Discover
Sit with the board, the family office and each operating company's leadership; list the decisions of the coming cycle; inventory sources already in use and where the family name appears across the group; read the competition-law and data-protection boundaries of collection in each market.
- 02
Define
Write the source register, the provenance standard and the memo form; decide the brand architecture with the family and the general counsel; set the identity principles and the token model for Arabic and Latin; agree the governance charter for both functions.
- 03
Build
Stand up collection and the memo workflow; license the sources; design the identity in both scripts and encode it as tokens and templates; produce the first positions for the next board meeting; prepare trademark filings in the group's name.
- 04
Prove
Deliver a full board cycle on schedule and record which positions were used and challenged; apply the identity to one operating company and one set of surfaces, fix the system where it strains, and release the fix through the process.
- 05
Operate
Run the intelligence cadence and the brand council; onboard the remaining companies through the architecture rules; move analyst and brand-manager roles to the group's own people; keep the growth practice available for the companies that want advertising systems of their own.
Was gebaut wurde
- Decision calendar
- The board's and each company's decisions, owners and dates, with the intelligence questions each depends on, maintained every cycle.
- Source register and provenance standard
- Every source with its licence, reliability and legal basis; how evidence is recorded, corroborated and reviewed.
- Board positions in two languages
- Memos in the agreed form, Arabic and English, with sources, confidence, what would change the position, a recommendation and an owner.
- Monitoring across six industries
- Regulatory, competitor and market monitoring per operating company, with alerts when a held position is no longer safe.
- Brand architecture and naming rules
- Master brand, endorsement and independence rules, and the procedure for acquisitions, ventures and divestments, adopted by the board.
- Bilingual identity system and tokens
- Mark, lockups, paired Arabic and Latin typography, colour, grid and motion as versioned tokens exported to web, print and office platforms.
- Template and component libraries
- Documents, presentations, signage and digital components consuming the tokens, so every company produces the brand correctly.
- Governance charters
- The intelligence function's operating model and the brand council's decision rights, request path and release process.

A blueprint measures what the mandate promised. The figures below are the ones this retainer would report to the board each quarter; they are filled from the record when a client approves publication, and are otherwise shown as the measures rather than as numbers.
- Board decisions informed by the intelligence cadence
- Measured against the baseline agreed in the mandate
- Brands consolidated under the architecture
