Engagement director (DACH)، دور توظّف له Altuon

Engagement director (DACH)

The person a Swiss chief information officer calls first, and is still calling five years after the programme closed.

The engagement director owns Altuon's relationship with each client in Switzerland, Germany and Austria, from the first conversation through the proposal, the steering cadence and the close. The role scopes and prices the work, chairs the governance that surfaces bad news early enough to act on it, and is accountable for the engagement being measured against the case the client's board approved. It is a commercial role and a delivery role at once: the director sells only what the practices can build, and stays in the room while they build it.

المسؤوليات

  1. 01Own the client relationship. Be the named counterpart of the client's executive sponsor, know their board calendar, their regulator and their internal politics, and be the person they call before a problem becomes a formal one.
  2. 02Scope and price proposals. Turn a first conversation into a mandate with a defined outcome, a sequence, gates the client signs, assumptions written down and a price the firm can deliver at. Involve the practice lead who will own delivery from the first draft, and decline the work the firm should not take.
  3. 03Run governance. Design and chair the steering cadence: what is reported, to whom, how often and with what authority to stop work. A programme that reports green until the go-live slips is a governance failure, and in this region it is this role's failure.
  4. 04Carry the regulatory frame. Know what the revised Swiss FADP, the GDPR, FINMA's outsourcing expectations and, where relevant, DORA require of an engagement and of Altuon as a supplier, so that the contract, the sub-processor list, the residency design and the exit terms answer procurement's questions before they are asked.
  5. 05Hold the commercial position through delivery: change control, scope conversations, disputed invoices and the renewal, conducted so that the relationship is stronger at the end of the engagement than at the beginning.
  6. 06Represent the firm in the region, in German, with the discretion clients here expect: at the client's site, with their auditors and in the professional community. What is learned about how the region buys becomes the firm's written position.

التسعون يوماً الأولى

The first month is spent on one or two live engagements in the region, alongside the current engagement director and the practice leads, reading the mandates, the steering minutes and the contracts before meeting the clients. The aim is to understand why each engagement is shaped as it is, and to find what the client is not saying in the steering committee.

The second month is the first proposal owned end to end: scoped with the practice lead, priced, reviewed by the firm and presented to the prospective client with the director as its author. By its end the director chairs a steering committee on a live engagement, with the outgoing chair in the room as an observer.

The third month brings the region's client portfolio, pipeline and governance calendar under the director's ownership, with the firm's leadership as a reviewer rather than the author. The renewal conversations and the risk register for each engagement are the director's own by the ninetieth day.

ما يُقيَّم

Commercial judgement
A scoping exercise on a realistic first conversation with a Swiss client: what you would propose, what you would decline, how you would price it and which assumptions you would write down. We look for a mandate the firm could sign.
Governance instinct
A conversation about a programme that reported green until it slipped. We want to hear what the steering committee should have been shown, and in which month.
Regulatory literacy
A discussion of what FINMA's outsourcing expectations or the revised Swiss FADP require of a supplier on a specific engagement, and where that appears in the contract and the design. Knowing the obligation matters more than citing the circular.
Composure in a difficult room
A steering committee played out in German, in which the client's sponsor is unhappy and allowed to interrupt. Chief information officers in this region will do this to you; we do it first.
Judgement about people
A discussion of a delivery team that was failing and what you did about it. We listen for how you protected the client and the team at the same time.

ما نبحث عنه

  • Years of owning client relationships and programme governance for enterprise technology work in Switzerland, Germany or Austria, including at least one engagement that lasted several years and at least one you chose to end.
  • Enough technical literacy to challenge an architecture, and the judgement to know when to defer to the engineer who drew it.
  • Fluent German, including the register in which Swiss and German boards conduct business; comprehension of Swiss German dialects is valued.
  • Evidence of discretion: a career in which the clients' names are not on your public profile and the clients would not want them to be.
  • A record of proposals that were delivered at the price and in the shape they were sold.
  • Working English; French in addition is valued for Swiss engagements.
